Born in France in 1978, LATLAS began his graffiti career in the 1990s. Fascinated by lettering and alphabets, LATLAS pursued his curiosity in Morocco, Egypt and Syria, studying traditional Arabic calligraphy and Kufi, a geometric calligraphy and one of the oldest forms of Arabic scripts. His interests next led him into film where he experimented with cinematography and directed several documentaries. Throughout his studies and cinematic pursuits LATLAS never stopped doing graffiti every experience contributing something new to his ever evolving and sophisticated style. LATLAS would soon develop a pictorial universe of letters and shapes all his own. Today LATLAS lives and works in Belleville, Paris and continues to be exhibited around the world.
