Pedro Matos has been hailed as one of the most promising names in Portuguese contemporary art. The basis of his artistic practice is an ongoing research into the ephemeral and decay ââ¬â ideas he finds present in both the urban landscape and nature itself, from marks created involuntarily by human activity to those produced by way of natural phenomena. In the form of meticulous pieces, the artist has been exploring the intricate complexity of abstract textures and detailed fragments situated in the border between abstraction and representation.
Since 2010, he has been exhibiting his work in both solo and group exhibitions in galleries and institutions in a growing number of countries, including Underdogs Gallery (Lisbon), Bid Project Gallery (Milan), Miguel Justino Contemporary Art (Lisbon), Martha Otero Gallery (Los Angeles), White Walls Gallery (San Francisco), Museu do Côa (Vila Nova de Foz Côa), National Army Museum (London), The Gross-Michael Foundation (Dallas), among others.
