Sema Lao is a young French artist who currently lives Limoges.
Her work is very unique and is based on a technique to it.

Colors, emotion, energy. Thatâs how I think I can describe my work ⦠Self-taught to paint and live the richness of the colors used, high contrast and subtle to the extreme and quick style reflect the look that I put on this world. Of shadow and light, empty and full.
From my earliest memories I have always wanted to play with the materials and colors, capture expressions and movements [to say even as a child I dreamed of being a taxidermist to try to recreate these emotions initials that I could not experience in their achievements ...]. So I started painting very young, surrounded by pencils, gouache and oil painting and almost especially birds.
My path was then punctuated by discoveries, plastics and technical meetings, which allowed me to release this guide spontaneity gesture, while the mastering. The oil pastel has long been my favorite technique, offering the opportunity to have direct contact with the material and giving the sensation of « sculpt » the faces and portraits.
