Rather than adding color within the spaces I wanted to color the lines themselves. Increasingly I’ve been interested in making my lines the focal point of my art. Here they have the stage to themselves, including the color. The inspiration for this print came from living in New York and seeing all the late night bars, clubs and delis and their lights. When you sit in a taxi and stare out of the window as it races along a rainy street late at night all the lines and lights streak across your eyes. Inspiration also came from the sort of characters you see walking around New York in the amber glow of the night. A lot of weird city dwellers make up the characters in my works." - Jon Burgerman
