2nd Edition

Dimension (x,y,z): 9.00 x 11.00 Inches(22.86 x 27.94 cm)
Run: 700
Markings: Signed & Numbered

This piece was created to commemorate, to the day, the 25th anniversary of Ralph Steadman and Hunter S. Thompson's first collaboration together in which they covered the 1970 Kentucky Derby for Scanlan's magazine. This piece and The Sherriff are unusual in that they are the only examples of Steadman's 'Gonzo Art' that Thompson ever signed. Steadman's original illustration of this image first appeared on page 79 of Thompson's literary masterpiece "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." Five-hundred copies were hand printed by master printer Joe Petro III (Petro III Graphics - Lexington, KY) and were then signed by both Steadman and Thompson on May 6, 1995 (the 121st "Run for the Roses," i.e., the Kentucky Derby) on the trunk of 'The Shark' (Thompson's giant Cadillac convertible) at Thompson's Owl Farm in Woody Creek, CO.

3rd Edition

Dimension (x,y,z): 8.00 x 15.00 Inches(20.32 x 38.1 cm)
Markings: Signed & Numbered

Information on the 3rd edition- Included in the Tim Ferriss Holiday MegaBox which cost $5000 and was guaranteed to arrive before 12/25/2014. The initial 1000 offered sold out and an unknown number of additional boxes were offered on top of that so there are at least 1000 of this third edition floating around. An exact number isn't currently known since this edition was not numbered by Ralph. It's 8" x 15" and signed in pencil by Ralph, only. The technique used to create this edition is currently unknown. I contacted Joe Petro III (he created the original four color silkscreen in 1995) and he said "The print looks like a digital print from the original limited edition silkscreen done years ago. Digital prints of original prints should never be done, that is why it was a limited edition. I did not have anything to do with the digital print."
