What Richard Prince did for re-photography, Jessica Craig Martin continues to do for cropping: namely narrowing the viewerâs focus and reconstituting narratives to go beyond surface reading. Whether sheâs shooting Cindy Shermanâs MoMA exhibition for The New Yorker or shooting a croquet story for Opening Ceremonyâs annual magazine, Jessica remains at war with the obvious.
