The work of French painter Julien Colombier incorporates various graphic techniques including chalk, paper, canvas and paint to produce shadowy, repetitive compositions that interweave flowers, plants and trees. Influenced by his background in skateboarding culture, Colombier often integrates his designs onto walls, ramps and urban spaces. Says the artist of his work, âPainting for me is an act of appropriating reality. I press this wonderful and stupid world to try and extract some of its poetry and absurdity.â
Colombier has shown his work and produced installations at a number of venues including Galerie OFR, Paris, Galerie Djeziri-Bonn, Paris, Galerie Laurence Bernard, foire YIA, Paris, BTW Gallery, Genève, and Galerie Metropolis, Paris, among others.
