The FAILE collective are one of the most popular and recognisable international producers of street-displayed artwork in the world. Established by Patrick McNeil and Patrick Miller in Brooklyn in 1992, the FAILE collective take their inspiration from the detritus of the city walls, using the decay of advertising and flyposting to provide a platform to present their own take on the world of found imagery. Drawing from a wide array of international cultural influences, from the likes of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Yayoi Kusama, to the incorporation of religious media, and old shcool Hollywood posters; FAILE have gained global recognition for their pioneering use of wheat pasting and their explorations of duality through a fragmented style of appropriation, graffiti and collage. In 2006, FAILE began focusing on a variety of fine art related projects including large canvas paintings, paintings on wood and limited edition prints. Selling out immediately at their London and New York art shows in 2007. In 2006/2007, the curator Pedro Alonszo’s ran an exhibition at the BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead, UK called Spank the Monkey. The exhibition brought together twenty two internationally recognized street artists such as as Os Gemeos, Shepard Fairey, Banksy, and FAILE and celebrated 'fine artists' such as Barry McGee, Takashi Murakami, and Ryan McGinness. FAILE originals and limited edition prints continue to attract collectors from all over the world.
